In England / Wales all replacement window installers' work is subject to building regulation approval, or in most cases are covered by the FENSA self certification scheme. FENSA is used by double glazing installer companies to certify that their replacement windows and doors installed comply with Building Regulations Document L (and more), actually checking on average 1% of all replacement windows installations.
Once an installer has been approved by FENSA their name is added to a list of FENSA registered installers that can be obtained from your local Council. This scheme has also led to double glazing installers being able to reduce their charges as there is no longer a need to submit for approval for each installation.
